Space Mining is a risky endeavor. It requires a carefully constructed space mining craft, that in turn demands a steady pilots hands to maneuver over the hazards of the black holes.

Not to mention - the cargo being so valuable that the mining crafts risk being attacked on their way back by the illusive and cunning space pirates. These pay no attention to the consequences of breaking the cosmic constitution - and only highly trained pilots are able to escape their attack if they are unlucky enough to be targeted.
